Kathleen McArthur wanted the community to take responsibility for its natural environment. To achieve this goal she sought to engage people by awakening their interest in the beauty and value of nature; this would ignite their desire to see it protected. Through her untiring efforts and a commanding personality she inspired many to take up the responsibility. For people to listen to her message Kathleen believed there had to be ‘a sweetener’. This ‘sweetener’ was often to be found in her accurate but appealing watercolours of wildflowers, her forthright and informative writings, her wildlife talks illustrated with her own quality photographs, and taking people into the local natural environment to show them its delights. © WPSQ, Sunshine Coast & Hinterland Inc |
